Video: What Kind of Dental Implants Should I Get?

Dental implants are made by specialty dental manufacturers all over the world. And it’s really up to the dentist to decide which manufacturing company they’re going to choose. 

There are some very sophisticated dental implant companies that such as Straumann, Biomet 3i, and Zimmer, manufacture their products in Switzerland and Germany. Many of these amazing, traditional companies, like Zimmer, have been manufacturing these products for decades. 

There are some amazing new companies, too, including companies based here in the United States. There are companies based in Israel, Korea, all over the world. These are companies that have really taken the time to not only design, but manufacture their own products. It’s most exciting for me to see what’s happening in the space because the design changes, although they have been very subtle over the last decade or two, have recently just broken through, I think. Now, we are looking at dental implant products that are incredibly specialized to do different types of things. 

I’ve mentioned pterygoid style implants in some of these other blog posts. I’ve mentioned zygomatic implants. These are solutions for patients that don’t have bone in the normal spots-the spots that are more traditional. Even mini implants have a place in dentistry, from my standpoint. But full arch implant dentistry, these designs now, are targeting those types of cases, and it’s a very exciting time. 

So, all that to say, it’s up to the dentist to choose their manufacturer, again all over the world. And they all tout different benefits with their products. But it really is some new recent technology that has been able to help us to do these amazing things to restore someone’s entire mouth or smile in a day or so. Digital processes, all of this stuff, is incredibly exciting stuff. 

All the dentists needs to do is ensure that it’s a reputable product with a good history 

and that they meet FDA approval. If you’re in the United States, you need FDA approval on your product. And certainly, at Concierge Dental Group we only use FDA products.
